Gaza pullout: turning the tables

Sunday, August 7th, 2005

The recent terrorist attack committed by a Jewish Israeli military deserter, who went and gunned down four Arabs on a bus, was called ‘a bloodthirsty Jewish terrorist’ by Sharon himself.

I was shocked to hear this news. As far as I have come to understand about the conflict in Israeli with the Palestinians, all the past terrorist attacks by Palestians were the initiator of retalation strikes by the Israeli military. Perhaps, as a result of the uncountable terrorist attacks on [Jewish] Israelis, I have become numb to news stories about bus bombings. But this was different. This time, an Israeli did it first. Sharon’s choice of words undercuts how shameful this act of violence was.

I brought up the incident with one of my co-workers who is Palestian. He had a salient insight that really hit home with me. Abdallah told me something along the lines of, “Look, now Israelis are upset, having their own land taken from [the government], they too are comitting senseless acts of terrorism upon civilians whom they feel is causing their loss of the land.”

In other words, the Israelis that are being forced to move out of Gaza are now experiencing the same thing Palestians have been experiencing for decades!

Boston MBTA on Google Maps

Tuesday, May 17th, 2005

Ever get confused with Boston street maps not easily coinciding with bus routes and T stops?

Google maps can now show MBTA routes if you are willing to set this up:

1) Get Mozilla Firefox - here

2) Get Greasemonkey extension here.

3) Get the Google Greasemonkey MBTA mapper javascript here.

And now try doing a search for somewhere in Boston using Firefox on Google Maps. You’ll see a “MBTA”NEW! link near the satellite image link.

You’ll end up seeing a map overlay with all the MBTA lines just like this:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Note: tool does not provide any extra mapping of areas not covered by MBTA. Also does not work in conjunction with the Grasemonkey Google anonymizer script, so just stick to this one if you’re gonna try a greased up Googe Maps.

So maybe I should look into making a good effort to develop my own wrestling tournament software. This article has some very convincing points made about startup companies.

New Blog

Monday, April 25th, 2005

So I’ve been mulling over starting a my own blog now for awhile, but I haven’t acted until now since my web provider recently upped the storage space on my account. I rarely have been writing to my livejournal because when I started it almost 2 years ago, I was graduating from high school and had alot of expository writing ideas. From the start, I had aimed to have the livejournal not be a very “daily” account of my life, because at the time I felt like those kinds of things were trivial and unimportant for my “livejournal friends” to be reading.

I always mean to write about my experiences and thoughts but never end up doing it because I’ll end up doing something else with my free time. In starting this blog, I’m really trying to move forward with more enriching activities for myself instead of, say, playing Counter-Strike Source for hours at a time.
